Terms of Service
Last updated May 14, 2026
The agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Six Two Whiskey LLC, doing business as OpenLogbooks ("we", "us", "our"). They cover your use of the OpenLogbooks application and website. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
If you don't agree to any part of these Terms, please don't use the service.
Your account
You sign in with a third-party identity provider (Google, Discord, or GitHub). You are responsible for keeping that provider account secure; anyone with access to it can sign in as you.
You must be at least 13 years old to use OpenLogbooks. If you create an account on behalf of an organization (a flight school, fleet owner, or maintenance shop), you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
Your data
You own the aircraft data, logbook entries, photos, and attachments you add to OpenLogbooks. We don't claim any ownership over your content. By uploading content, you grant us the limited license needed to display it back to you, render it into PDFs and CSVs, back it up, and improve our services.
You can export everything as PDF at any time, on any tier. You can delete anything you've added at any time. Account deletion (from the Account page) wipes your data within 7 days.
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you log. OpenLogbooks is a record-keeping tool — it does not validate that your maintenance entries are technically correct or compliant with the regulations that apply to your aircraft.
What you agree not to do
- Use the service to harm, harass, defraud, or impersonate others.
- Upload content that's illegal or that you don't have the right to upload.
- Interfere with the service's operation — no scraping at scale, no probing for vulnerabilities outside a coordinated disclosure, no attempting to access other users' data.
- Resell, sublicense, or expose the service to third parties without our written agreement.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data before termination, except in cases involving fraud, abuse, or legal risk where immediate suspension is necessary.
Tiers and billing
OpenLogbooks has a free tier with one aircraft and limited features, and paid tiers with additional capabilities. Paid plans are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from the Account page.
We do not refund partial billing periods, but you keep access to paid features through the end of your current period after canceling. If we change pricing, we'll notify active subscribers at least 30 days before the change applies to them.
The free tier may always remain free, may be modified, or may be removed in the future with reasonable notice.
Regulatory disclaimer
OpenLogbooks generates documents intended to assist with FAA 14 CFR § 91.417 record-keeping, including a § 91.417(a)(2) PDF export. The content of those documents is generated from the data you enter. You — the aircraft owner, mechanic, or operator — remain solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of your maintenance records and for compliance with the regulations that apply to your aircraft and operating environment.
Nothing produced by OpenLogbooks substitutes for the judgment of a qualified Inspection Authorization (IA), Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic, or other certificated person, where their judgment is required by regulation.
Service availability
We work to keep the service available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, third-party outages (Stripe, our hosting provider, OAuth providers), and unexpected failures may temporarily interrupt the service. We are not liable for losses from such interruptions beyond what's required by law.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months immediately before the event giving rise to the liability, or one hundred US dollars ($100), whichever is greater.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption. Some jurisdictions don't allow limitations on certain liabilities; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the service in violation of these Terms or applicable law, including content you uploaded that infringes someone else's rights.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
Changes
We may update these Terms over time. If a change is material, we'll email registered users at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the service after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you don't accept them, you can cancel and export your data before they apply.
